Ahmad Sarbaini families want royal commission

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA (20 October 2011): There is an urgent need for the Government to set up a Royal Commission to investigate the death of the Department of customs Assistant Director Ahmad Sarbaini Mohamad at the Office of the anti-corruption Commission (MACC) Malaysia on April 6.

His cousin, Makhtar Mansor, 53, who represents the families of the deceased, said the request was made because Ahmad Sarbaini families unable to receive the trial court's decision on September 29, coroner that the death was an accident.

He said the family will send a memorandum to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who demanded a Commission fee is charged.

"His family was not able to accept the decision at all. We believe there is a foul and we want the Commission to investigate the case again, "he told reporters in the lobby of Parliament here today.

Also present is Ahmad Mohammad Sarbaini Taib parent, Itam, 73, and Aishah Abdul Raof, 73, and family members.
